Andrei Arlovski: Distributing big pee pee, as seen aboveHourly, Arlovski Makes More Than You'll See In Five Lifetimes
Say what you want about Andrei Arlovski (15-7). Fact is, he's made out like a bandit over the last twelve months of his career.
He's KO'ed two of the most recognizable heavyweights outside of the UFC, has been KO'ed by one of the most recognizable MMA fighters ever, and has topped all of the above off by getting KO'ed in under half a minute by a 3-to-1 underdog.
Still, for this performance of his in his last two fights, both of them losses, Andrei Arlovski has made more purse money than most UFC fighters are ever going to see over the course of their careers, not including endorsements, sponsorship dollars, or other endeavors outside of MMA.
In his fight against Fedor, Arlovski circled tentatively for about three minutes, before ending up on a receiving end of a short right that caught him with his hands down, and sent him crashing to the canvas face-first.
In his fight against Rogers, the bigger statement may appear at first to be that a 3-to-1 underdog took it to a former UFC champion, but in reality, the most profound realization in all of this is that a former UFC champion actually lost to a fighter who'd never fought anyone with as high a profile as Arlovski. The fight lasted twenty-two seconds.
For his loss to Fedor, Arlovski earned $1,500,000.
For losing to Rogers, he banked $750,000.
Total earnings for a combined three minutes, thirty-six seconds of MMA competition: $2.25 million dollars.
Atencio may be trying to play it cool by saying he's not "looking at that right now" in regards to signing Arlovski, and that's a good point for him to make. What he's actually looking at is the fact that in two fights, Arlovski took close to $2 million in Atencio's hard-earned t-shirt dollars.
Though his most recent fight was in Strikeforce, Strikeforce and Affliction have co-promoted bouts in the past, and have swapped fighters amongst one-another to fill holes in each other's cards.
With his loss to an upcoming Brett Rogers, it'll be interesting to see where Arlovski ends up. A fighter that was once adorning UFC highlight reels with his demolition of the opponents placed in front of him, has now seen two devastating losses in just under a round's worth of time.
Considering that Arlovski's reputation, as well as his legitimacy in the heavyweight ranks, may be somewhat tarnished in lieu of two ruthlessly disappointing losses, it's hard to anticipate that his future in an MMA ring is the foremost concern on his mind, as he sits upon more than $2 million in banked earnings with just two fights worth of work, and could very well be set for life.
Arlovski currently has no contractual obligations to any promotions, nor is he bound by any non-compete clauses with any organization.
What he does have is a healthy bank-roll, and women like the one depicted above hanging from his arm.
Arlovski's doing alright.
