Appearing in only the second Mixed Martial Arts bout of his career, Affliction front-man Tom Atencio moved to 2-0 in his MMA "career," stopping a debuting Randy Hedderick (0-1) in Hedderick's first professional MMA bout.

Atencio weighed-in yesterday at 160.4 lbs, with Hedderick making an even 159 lbs.

Atencio was making his second MMA appearance since 2005, where he won by decision after three rounds at a show called Total Combat 7. Making his professional debut as a local favorite, Randy Hedderick came into this bout not only one pound lighter than Atencio, with one fight's worth less of professional experience, but Hedderick also came in 17 years younger than Atencio.

Hedderick came out firing against Affliction's front-man, catching him with two big right hands, one after another, in the first round. These rocked Atencio and had him hurt badly, but local-favorite Hedderick was unable to seal the deal and capitalize on having hurt his opponent.

In the second round, Atencio fired back, catching Hedderick with a big leg-sweep takedown that landed Atencio in side-control, after which he began raining down big bombs to Hedderick's face. Bloodied up from the offensive, and bleeding badly from his nose, Hedderick was unable to answer the bell for the third round.

The fight was halted, and Atencio was declared the winner by TKO.

“Randy’s a tough kid and I thank him for the fight. Screw Dana White for what he said about you," Atencio said of Hedderick after the fight, while making reference to shots taken at Atencio's opponent prior to their bout by the rivaling promoter.

"Anybody who steps in the ring deserves a lot of respect. Win, lose or draw, at least you had the balls. He rocked me a couple of times and decked me.”
