THQ to Release Software Patch for UFC 2009: Undisputed

UFC 2009: Undisputed: Software Patch ForthcomingUFC 2009: Undisputed: Software Patch ForthcomingPatch will address disconnections, other bugs

Neven Dravinski, deemed a "UFC Producer" on the THQ website, has made a public post addressing a soon-to-be-released software patch that will address several issues with the UFC's new video game, UFC 2009: Undisputed.

Among the issues being addressed is the wave of cheaters who disconnect the video game to avoid accruing a notch in the "Loss" column when they've been defeated in a ranked match via the popular Xbox Live network.

According to Dravinski, code is being written into the newest upgrade of the game that will work to detect when a player has disconnected their Xbox from the network in an attempt to avoid a loss. According to the post from the producer, the network-distributed online patch will "have integrated code that detects who pulls the cable and will assign a Loss as well as a Did Not Finish to that player."

In UFC 2009: Undisputed, creating a superior fighter via career mode isn't hard at all. Really, it's a matter of sticking to a game plan that ensures you will be maximally compensated for your time and training in the short length of time (only 7 years) that you have to build the best fighter you can.

By adhering to the outline that I'm about to go over, not only will you achieve this, but your created fighter will trump any glitch-created super fighter you may encounter online. In instances of running across players that will use these kinds of fighters, you'll find that an optimally created, career tested fighter will have a substantial statistical advantage.

If you've read the instruction manual of the game, or observed any websites that talk about creating a fighter outside of career mode rather than within career mode, you know that the potential of a career fighter greatly outweighs the potential of a fighter created outside of career mode. This is mainly due to the fact that you have as much time as you can cram into 7-8 career years to build up valuable points, which can be put towards strength, speed, and cardio.

With about a week to play through the game and prepare for my entry in the Underground Grand Prix, I’ve taken the opportunity to create four different fighters for use in the game’s Career Mode, each with a diversified skill-set apart from the other, with no two fighters alike. Each fighter is different, but each one defends, or succumbs to, the clinch in the same manner.

Post-release, we’re going to take a different approach to the “UFC 2009: Undisputed” strategy segment here on ThrowThemBows.com, and get right to the good stuff. Let’s face it: you want to kick the crap out of your friends, and impressively. You don’t want to just knock them out, you want to know how to do that cool slam that Matt Hughes does, and you want to know how to transition then submit your opponent with ease.

We’re here to help.

Though not so much a strategy tactic as it is an entertainment perk, the fine folk at THQ have paid tribute to our fallen hero, Mask, by making him an unlockable light-heavyweight fighter.

What better way to pay an everlasting tribute to one of our sport’s most recognizable icons than to put a five-star asswhooping down on everyone you get to play in your online ventures.

Competition online has gotten online, and Xbox Live & PS3 gamers alike have felt the effect of the game having sold over well 200,000 units within its first week alone.

As this happens, more people are having more and more time to exploit glitches and and take advantage of flaws in the game's freshman attempt at a balanced training system. Some have suggested changes along the lines of the ones seen between the early EA Fight Night titles, and what will eventually be Fight Night Round 4. However, this franchise hasn't had multiple platforms and multiple years over which to build. In a debuting effort, it did alright.

Still, we'd like to think we're doing alright a week or so in.

The demo release of UFC 2009 Undisputed via the Xbox Live service last week has given us about a week to survey the game and figure out how it all works. The game is slated for release May 19th, 2009, and will be released on both the Xbox and Playstation3 consoles.

In game-speak terms, the demo featured two playable characters, certainly intended to prop up their forthcoming main-event at the time of its release’s announcement. While Chuck’s striking acumen is well represented in the game, so are Shogun’s well-rounded abilities both on the ground and on his feet.
